“The body of the human world is sick. Its remedy and healing will be the oneness of the kingdom of humanity. Its life is ‘The Most Great Peace.’ Its illumination and quickening is love. Its happiness is the attainment of spiritual perfections.”
‘Abdu’l-Baha (1844-1921) was the son of Baha’u’llah, the source of the Baha’i system of knowledge and practice. Baha’u’llah called his son ‘the Master’: of his teachings, of his community of followers, and of the noble way of living he had mapped out. On release from religious persecution and imprisonment, ‘Abdu’l-Baha travelled in the West for several years. This quote, excerpted from a famous talk given 16 April 1912 at a hotel in New York City, was today’s entry in a useful on-line delivery service for choice snippets from the Baha’i Writings. The full talk is found in a collection entitled The Promulgation of Universal Peace.
